Exploring Pacbitun Farm in San Antonio

Exploring Pacbitun Farm in San Antonio

While trying to find the Pacbitun Mayan ruins we accidentally rode onto the Pacbitun Farm instead. Currently there are no markings for the ruins and Google Maps and MAPS.ME show the farm. We were greeted by a wonderful lady who offered to show us around. She had lots of amazing flowers and trees. She then explained how to get into the ruins, which were behind us two roads. Driving to 1000 Foot Falls in Mountain Pine Ridge

Driving to 1000 Foot Falls in Mountain Pine Ridge

I finally had the chance to adventure to 1000 Foot Falls which is the tallest waterfall in Central America with an actual elevation of 1600 feet. The river descends over the cliff into a natural wonderland and it would be so cool if possible to get to the top to see the view down. When entering Mountain Pine Ridge my original plan was to sleep at 1000 Foot Falls but as I got there nice and early I decided to continue on exploring further eastward as I never been to this side of the reserve before. It was getting late and I needed to setup camp soon. It was my amazing discovery to come across the Baldy Beacon Military Complex. This was abandoned and was the perfect place to sleep. The concrete walls blocked…

BBQ and Swimming at Rio on Pools

BBQ and Swimming at Rio on Pools

Tasty BBQ at the Rio on Pools in Mountain Pine Ridge. Do not come here without planning to BBQ or you are missing out and will be tired for the rest of the day. Usually we stop here halfway through our Mountain Pine Ridge tours after first seeing Rio Frio Cave. This stop makes for a perfect place to swim and relax before continuing on your journey to Big Rock Falls.

The Species of Plants Growing Along the Macal River in San Ignacio

Walking along the Macal River on this hot beautiful day admiring the seven species of plants growing here. This is a walk I recommend all people do when they are new to the town. I have been coming to this spot for many years and never realized until today that those signs were all different for the plants haha.
