Party in the Jungle. Underground Cookout. Turkey and Vegetables Slowly Cooked.

Party in the Jungle. Underground Cookout. Turkey and Vegetables Slowly Cooked.

Somewhere deep in the Belize jungle, off-grid with only solar panels, a paradise I created, we all gathered. The earth oven cookout was a wonderful success. A blazing hot fire kept us all warm against the cooling temperature of the jungle. The barrel is 35 inches tall and I would say we filled at least 25 inches with charcoal and stones. It was hot! I shoveled out half of it and made a layer of sand to create a safe…

Riding my Motorcycle to Monkey Falls in Cristo Rey Belize

Riding my Motorcycle to Monkey Falls in Cristo Rey Belize

Cristo Rey is as beautiful as always, water crystal clear, villagers all out loving life, and clean fresh air. Happy to enjoy a fresh swim. Yesterday I rebuilt and cleaned my motorcycle carburetor, so I was ready for an off-road adventure testing all three jets. I was having a problem with either the pilot or starter jet. Cleaned them out, nice combustion in the lower RPM ranges now.

Working as a Software Developer in the Remote Jungle using Solar Panels and 4G LTE

The happiest I have ever been in my life has been living in the middle of the jungle. All you really need in life are a couple of solar panels and a 4G LTE data plan. Building a Pig Pen in the Jungle

Building a Pig Pen in the Jungle

The new pig pen has been built. I have five garden beds ready for planting. I have cedar wood chippings along walkways between garden beds. The metal fencing did cost a little. Hard work.

Raising Pigs in the Jungle and Slaughtering them into Bacon, Ribs, and Ham.

After becoming familiar with chickens and the basics of farm life I was then ready to acquire my first serious livestock. I decided on pigs only to learn how much work they are. After having them as pets for two months they refused to be moved to the new safe pig pen and as a result they had to be killed early. The risk of loss of investment was too great at the current location. Plus after realizing how good…

Establishing Camp in the Jungle

Establishing Camp in the Jungle

I have finished creating my camp site in the jungle and have named it Base Camp Alpha. I can now focus my time on importing the solar and networking equipment along with creating a system for collecting rainwater and a gravity powered plumbing system for showering and watering the plants. I still got lots of land to clear before I can start creating beds to plant stuff. Been saving all the bush sticks so I can build houses and fence…

Clearing Land for my Farm

Clearing Land for my Farm

Life is all about gardening and farming. It always was but it was so easy for us to get distracted by modern life. The farm provides all we need to sustain a healthy life. The last week I have spent several hours each day chopping though the jungle preparing a road into the 0.6 acre lot that will be the future location to a very successful farm.
